Shaw and Partners raises over $500,000 for charity Foundation21 Jun 2018

All in a day’s work – the Shaw and Partners Foundation has today announced that it has raised $504,898 for charity from the activity of its annual Foundation Institutional Day.

In the last two years, the Shaw and Partners Foundation has raised and donated over $1.5 million for Australian based charities.

Perhaps its most impactful initiative to date is its annual Foundation Institutional Day, which sees all brokerage generated through institutional trades (on a nominated day) donated to the staff members’ charity/charities of choice.  In its third year, the Shaw and Partners’ annual Foundation Institution Day follows a sustained advocacy campaign by its Foundation, to create tangible change in the fabric of Australian society.

Today, Shaw and Partners Financial Services committed $504,898 to the Australian Fund Manager’s Foundation and the Australian Stockbrokers Foundation, which supports a myriad of smaller not for profits including the Sydney Children’s Hospital, Lou’s Place Women’s Refuge, Odyssey House, Mission Australia and Second Bite.

The Institutional Foundation Day provides a platform for pooling resources in the Australian Financial Services industry; designed to encourage a collaborative and community focussed approach to giving.

Shaw and Partners Head of Equites, Mike Ryan, who has led the initiative for the last three years said “The Shaw and Partners Foundation is thrilled to be able to provide a vehicle through which we can continue to support the Australian Fund Managers Foundation and the Australian Stockbrokers Foundation in an ongoing capacity. The money raised from our annual Insto Day will afford the beneficiary charities with the opportunity to achieve their sustainable development goals, allowing their various successful projects to be upscaled more rapidly.”

The Shaw and Partners Foundation remains committed to its engaged approach to philanthropy focussing on providing support to charities that have the potential to be sustainable, scalable and transformative across its areas of influence; mental health, education and a social inclusion.

Co-CEO Earl Evans said “Our employees are instrumental in carrying out the firm’s mission of giving back; which for us represents more than simply writing out a cheque. We are constantly looking for innovative ways to contribute to the communities within which we live and work and our annual Foundation insto day is one example of this.”

Each year, the Shaw and Partners Foundation provides financial assistance and support to a multitude of community organisations.
