Shaw and Partners is the proud sponsor of the Brainstorm for a Cure Gala Dinner, a sell-out charity event to be held on Saturday 8 September at the AIS Arena in Canberra.
Brainstorm for a Cure came to life in 2014, when brain cancer survivor and local hero, Sarah Mamalai, lost five close friends. One of whom was just 15 years old, to the same cruel disease as her own. Their legacy is Sarah’s ‘brain-child’ – the unique charity event Brainstorm for a Cure – a Party for Hope.
In its fifth successful year, Brainstorm for a Cure will feature entertainment by Aussie Rock legend Jon Stevens, Australian singer and actress Paulini Curuenavuli, a Canberra party band Tuchasoul and Pee Wee Productions & the cast of We Will Rock You. The event will be hosted by Andrew Daddo.
All proceeds will go to Cure Brain Cancer Foundation to help accelerate new treatments for people with brain cancer. Since the inaugural event in 2014, Brainstorm for a Cure has raised over $1,000,000 with the aim this year to raise an additional $350,000.
Shaw and Partners Co-CEO Earl Evans said “It’s an absolute privilege and honour to be the premier sponsor for the Cure for Brain Cancer 2018 Gala Dinner and to provide support to such as an outstanding organisation.”
The Shaw and Partners Foundation focuses on providing support to charities that have the potential to be sustainable, scalable and transformative across its key areas of influence; mental health, education and social inclusion. In the last two years, the Shaw and Partners Foundation has raised and donated over $1,500,000 million for Australian based charities.
