Naomi Scott and Ben Carberry win the Shaw and Partners Manly Open Surf Classic News21 Jan 2025

The Shaw and Partners Manly Open Surf Classic delivered a spectacular weekend of surf sports action, living up to the high expectations set by the Shaw and Partners World Ocean Series. With powerful surf, a passionate crowd, and intense racing, the event proved to be one of the most thrilling competitions in recent memory.

In the Ironwoman final, Naomi Scott (Northcliffe) delivered a performance for the ages, battling through massive surf to claim victory ahead of Lizzie Welborn (Newport) and Tiarnee Massie (Maroochydore). Reflecting on her win, Scott shared an emotional moment, saying:

"The little girl who did nippers down in the corner would be proud of the big girl who won up here today."

The Ironman race saw Ben Carberry (Burleigh) continue his dominance with back-to-back 10,000-point victories, overcoming a challenging start to edge out Ryley Harland (Northcliffe) and Nick Middleton (Wanda). While Harland pushed the competition to the limit with an impressive board leg, Carberry’s strength on the ski leg sealed the deal. His victory solidifies his position at the top of the overall standings, marking a strong comeback from earlier season setbacks.

As the Shaw and Partners World Ocean Series reaches its halfway mark, this weekend’s electrifying competition has set the stage for an unforgettable summer of surf sports.

The series will conclude on February 21-22, 2025, on the Gold Coast, with the highly anticipated Shaw and Partners Shannon Eckstein Ironman Classic.
