The 2024 Shaw and Partners WA Race Week concluded in spectacular fashion last Saturday with the iconic "Shaw and Partners Doctor" ocean surf ski race. Named after Perth’s famous cooling sea breeze, The Doctor is one of the world’s largest ocean downwind paddling races, attracting over 700 paddlers from across the globe.
Shaw and Partners is delighted to congratulate our brand ambassadors Cory Hill and Jemma Smith for their remarkable performances. Cory once again demonstrated why he is considered one of the greatest, completing the race in 1:56:13 and finishing ahead of Gordan Harbrecht and Hank McGregor. It was his sixth Doctor win. Jemma made history with her back-to-back victory in 2:11:43, finishing ahead of Danielle Richards and Kira Bester.
The Shaw and Partners WA Race Week wasn’t just about the six paddling races organised throughout the event. On Monday evening, we hosted a spectacular welcome dinner for over 160 guests, including staff, advisers, athletes, and supporters from the paddling community. The night concluded with the presentation of $25,000 donations from the Shaw and Partners Foundation to both the What Ability and the Gotcha4Life Foundations.
On Sunday, Shaw and Partners welcomed over 700 young surf lifesavers to the Sorrento SLSC, setting a record as Australia’s largest-ever Nipper Clinic. On Tuesday morning, Shaw and Partners, together with a team of athletes, spent time with the What Ability Foundation, organising a fun morning on the beach. The Perth office also hosted a series of exclusive board lunches for clients, providing a unique opportunity to connect with our team of brand ambassadors.
To cap off the week, an incredible fireworks display on Saturday evening lit up the sky, providing the perfect finale to celebrate a truly memorable event.
