Shaw and Partners names two new hires News04 Oct 2023

Mid-tier stockbroker Shaw and Partners is on a hiring spree, adding to its research and equity capital markets teams.

Credit Suisse technology and small-cap analyst and former Jefferies operative Abraham Akra will join the Shaw and Partners next month as a senior analyst, covering emerging industrial, technology and consumer companies alongside Phil Pepe.

The appointment comes soon after Credit Suisse equities research director Larry Gandler popped up at the broker, replacing analyst Danny Younis. He will cover emerging industrial and consumer companies as a senior analyst based in Melbourne.

Shaw and Partners has also appointed Tom Fraczek as a director in its ECM team, eyeing his background in the technology and resource sectors. He joins from RBC Capital Markets and had stints at Macquarie Capital and Citi Group Global Markets.

At Citi, Fraczek worked on deals including initial public offerings for Link Group and MYOB, Royal Dutch Shell’s $3.2 billion sell-down of its stake in Woodside Petroleum in June 2014, and Santos’ 2015 rights issue.

Gandler and Akra are the latest in a snaking line of former Credit Suisse staff to find new employment as the investment bank begins its integration with Swiss rival UBS.
