Shaw and Partners Race Team member Danielle McKenzie wins the Bridge to Manly News21 Feb 2022

On Sunday 20 February, the Shaw and Partners Bridge to Beach marked the inaugural race of the 2022 Shaw and Partners Australian Ocean Racing Series. (AORS). For the fifth year running, Shaw and Partners is proud to be the main presenting sponsor of AORS, a national ocean racing series attracting competitors across a number of ocean racing disciplines.

This year, over 500 paddlers lined up in the early hours of the morning underneath the Sydney Harbour Bridge to paddle past the Sydney Opera House and the northern shores of Sydney Harbour on their way to the finish line at beautiful Manly Wharf. The event got full coverage on Channels 9’s Today Show with six live weather crossings throughout the morning. View here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPCK56fDTw4https://lnkd.in/gu3NbJeJ

Shaw and Partners Brand Ambassador and Race Team member Danielle McKenzie took the win in the women’s category in 46:26, finishing comfortably ahead of Georgia Laird (48:17) and Canadian Olympian Madeline Schmidt (48:33). In the men’s category, Tom Norton (42:26) finished clear of Luke Morrison (43:03) and Shaw and Partners Race Team Member Cory Hill (43:10) to stand on top of the podium with a dominant performance.

Again this year, Shaw and Partners generously committed to match, dollar for dollar, all donations made to Fragile X Association of Australia during the Bridge to Beach. At the awards ceremony, Shaw and Partners’ Co-CEO Earl Evans was delighted to present a cheque of $20,000 to the Fragile X and renew his support for the year ahead. The total amount donated by Shaw and Partners was $10,000.

The Fragile X Association of Australia is a national not-for-profit organisation that aims to improve the health and wellbeing of people affected by Fragile X and to provide support to them and their families. Fragile X is a genetic condition that causes intellectual disability, behavioural and learning challenges and various physical characteristics.
