Shaw and Partners has pulled off a big coup in the world of #Australian #stockbrokers and #wealth managers, poaching a senior operative from rival Ord Minnett.
It is understood Ord Minnett’s George Deva, the firm’s head of #privatewealth and seasoned executive, has resigned, and will pop up at Shaw in the new year.
With his pedigree - three years running Ords’ private wealth business and a bunch of other senior roles in the past two decades - it would make sense if he was put in charge of Shaws’ wealth business.
It’s a big signing for Shaw, which manages $32 billion in assets on behalf of clients across its seven offices and has more than 190 investment advisers and planners.
Deva is expected to help run the whole lot.
The signing comes only one month after Shaw hired Ords adviser Tony Mitchell, who was said to have about a $400 million client book and write $3 million in revenue a year. He’s headed to Shaw’s Sydney CBD office.
