Shaw and Partners was delighted to see the Shaw and Partners Race Team back on the water, participating in the Old Woman Ocean Paddle and EuroTourSUP during the weekend.

Starting at the Mooloolaba Spit, the Old Woman Ocean Paddle attracts ocean and spec ski paddlers as well as SUP and prone board paddlers, racing the challenging 18km course along the coastline to Mudjimba around Old Woman Island and return. Old Woman Island is an iconic landmark of the Sunshine Coast and the subject of several Aboriginal legends all of which contribute to the personality and character of this event.

In the women’s ocean ski category, orange and black were the colours of winners on the podium with Shaw and Partners Race Team members Danielle McKenzie and Jordan Mercer crossing the finishing line respectively in 01:26:58 and 01:27:45 ahead of Shaw and Partners Brand Ambassador Georgia Laird. 

In the men’s ocean ski category, Tom Norton took out the win (01:18:55) in a hotly contested race ahead of Shaw and Partners Race Team member Cory Hill and Mackenzie Hynard. Shaw and Partners Brand Ambassador Matt Bevilacqua earned top honours in the male spec ski category in 01:22:38.

On the other side of world, Shaw and Partners Race Team member and SUP World Champion Michael Booth made it two from two with another dominant performance in Denmark after travelling to Europe to compete in the Stand up Paddling EuroTour. Michael broke away early in the race and cruised to victory over the 12.5km course.  He now turns his attention to Hungary where he attempts to defend his title in the Distance Race at the ICF World Championship this Friday. 

The Shaw and Partners Race Team was launched in 2018 as a partnership between Bennett, Fenn, Oakley, Oceanpaddler, Vaikobi and Shaw and Partners to consolidate the various individual sponsorships of athletes competing in a series of open water paddling events both domestically and internationally.
