There’s a familiar face back in Shaw and Partners’ corporate finance team, with ex-CommBank and Goldman Sachs operative George BouAntoun headed back to the firm as a director.

BouAntoun left Shaw early last year to join 360 Capital-backed Cambridge Investment Partners, which was set up to advise listed and unlisted clients on capital markets transactions.

However, he’s returning to Shaw’s corporate finance team, at a time when the firm’s printing plenty of equity capital markets transactions.

He’s expected to be joined by another new recruit; Ben Gribble, who has headed to Shaw from Houlihan Lokey. Gribble also previously served in Credit Suisse’s FIG team in London.

Shaw has also hired ex- Foster’s and Wilsons broker Chris Dorney for research sales, where he’s expected to focus on small cap industrials and resources stocks.

“We are delighted to have such high calibre individuals join our small cap institutional team,” Shaw head of capital markets, Conrad Anderson, told this column.

The recruits come soon after Shaw helped close $135m in pre-IPO funding rounds for ESG-compliant marketplace Xpansiv, and a final $10m pre-IPO round for Brian Hartzer chaired Beforepay.

Beforepay is expected to hit the boards this year and Xpansiv in early 2022.
