Shaw and Partners has teamed up with Oceanpaddler launching the inaugural Shaw and Partners WA Race Week which will be held during 16-23 November 2019 in Perth, Western Australia.

The event is set to become the biggest week in the Australian ocean paddling calendar with five events spread over seven days with a whopping prize pool of $100,000.  The event has been supported and awarded funding by Tourism WA in an effort to promote the sport locally and help raise the profile of the region as a tourist destination.

The Shaw and Partners WA Race Week will combine five events over various distances to find the best Surf Ski Ocean Paddler globally:

  • Sat 16 Nov: Fenn West Coast Downwind
  • Tue 19 Nov: The Ben Hewitt Sunset Surf Ski Series Race
  • Thu 21 Nov: The Ben Hewitt Sunset Surf Ski Series Race
  • Fri 22 Nov: The Shaw and Partners Dash for Cash – Prize Money: $15,000
  • Sat 23 Nov: The Shaw and Partners “The Doctor” – Prize Money: $50,000

Adding to the already attractive prize money from The Doctor and Dash for Cash events, Shaw and Partners has contributed an additional cash incentive of $35,000, attracting the very best paddlers from all over the world to partake in the various events over the course of the entire week.  Points across all events will be accumulated with the $35,000 in bonus cash and prizes up for grabs.

Shaw and Partners hopes that its extension of financial support will draw talent from far and wide, bringing the very best ocean athletes to the event.  “We are looking forward to continuing to play a very active part in a sport that continues to grow in popularity both across Australia and internationally,” Shaw and Partners Co-CEO Earl Evans said.

“For the second year running, an equal cash incentive has been announced for the winner of the men’s and women’s open across both the Doctor and Dash for Cash races” Mr Evans added.  “By offering an equal prize pool for men and women alike, Shaw and Partners aims to create a dynamic and supportive network within the ocean paddling series through engagement, empowerment and support.”

The series is set to attract paddlers from all over Australia including Shaw and Partners Race Team members Cory Hill, Rachel Clarke, Michael Booth and Mackenzie Hynard and contenders from all corners of the globe with Olympic Gold Medallist Clint Robinson, current Molokai Champion Hank McGregor, Sean Rice, Teneale Hatton and Hayley Nixon just to name a few.
