Over the weekend, the inaugural Shaw and Partners North Bondi Surf Ski Classic saw a world class field of contestants racing from Watson’s Bay to Australia’s most famous stretch of sand, Bondi Beach.
The North Bondi Surf Ski Classic is the latest race that has been added to the Australian Ocean Racing Series’ calendar.
In its first year, the race saw solid participation levels with over 220 competitors wetting their paddles and vying for the $10,000 prize money that was on offer.
Jackson Collins took out the win in the men’s division, followed by Tom Norton in second place and Shaw and Partners Race Team member Mackenzie Hynard in third. In the women’s category, Danielle McKenzie won the race with Georgia Laird in second and Jemma Smith in third.
The male and female winners won $2,000 each with the support of Shaw and Partners’ sponsorship.
The Australian Ocean Racing Series continues in Perth with the famous Perth Doctor downwind race at the end of November.
