Shaw and Partners congratulates Australia’s new National Ocean Paddling Champion News26 Feb 2017

Shaw and Partners, one of Australia’s leading investment and wealth management firms congratulates Cory Hill for taking out the final race of the 2016/17 Australian Ocean Racing Series (AORS) and being named as Australia’s national ocean paddling champion.

The Australian Ocean Racing Series began in 2002 and is a national ocean racing series attracting competitors across a number of disciplines including Ocean skis, Surf skis, Stand Up Paddleboards, Racing Boards, Outrigger Canoes, Plastic skis and Sea Kayaks.

The series travels around Australia’s most popular beaches and always finishes with the Bridge to Beach race in Sydney, starting at Sydney Harbour Bridge and finishing at Manly Wharf.

As presenting sponsor of AORS and personal sponsor of Cory Hill, Shaw and Partners is pleased to support the sport of Ocean Paddling.

Cory has had a winning record during the past few years and is the firm favourite to take out the 2017 World Championship to be held in Hawaii in May.

Shaw and Partners Co-CEO, Earl Evans, said Ocean Paddling was one of the country’s most challenging and satisfying sports and Shaw and Partners were not only happy to sponsor the entire National competition and to support world class paddlers like Cory Hill and Michael Booth, but also to encourage Shaw and Partners’ staff and clients to become involved in different ways.

Today’s Bridge to Beach final race of the season was an outstanding success and not only confirmed Cory Hill’s dominance of the sport in Australia, but also allowed Shaw and Partners to once again promote a healthy Australian lifestyle while supporting Australian sports men and women.

Mr Evans and Shaw and Partners’ Victorian State Manager Malcolm Cameron both became involved in the sport in 2015 and have competed in the 52km Hawaiian Open Ocean Molokai to Oahu race, which Cory Hill won in 2015.

“The Molokai race is the most prestigious ocean paddling race in the world, starting on the west coast of Molokai Island and finishing on the east coast of Oahu, across one of the most dangerous and treacherous ocean channels in the world, known as the Channel of Bones,” Mr Evans said.

“Taking on such a challenge after research, preparation and testing our skills is very much in line with what we do with our clients at Shaw and Partners. We will find the best investment opportunities with research and preparation and we will test the outcomes before any investment is made.”

Earlier this year Shaw and Partners was pleased to announce that it would continue to sponsor the Australian Ocean Racing Series in 2017/18.

Today’s race organisers raised funds for the Fragile X Association which funds research into Fragile X, a genetic condition causing intellectual disability, behavioural and learning challenges.

Shaw and Partners have undertaken to match, dollar for dollar, all donations to Fragile X resulting from Bridge to Beach donations.
